14 krt yellowgold necklace
This necklace is the result of the frequent questions I have been asked on my purplegold and bluegold alloys. Every time I had to explain what an alloy was and why we make alloys. So I thought it would be much easier to explain this with an example. The result is this necklace that contains 24 balls, which refers to the 24 karat gold. 14 balls are pure gold, 4 are made of pure silver and 6 of copper. Each ball weighs 1 gram, and because there are three kinds of metals, there are also three volumes, because they each have a different specific gravity. When mixed (alloyed), you’ll get 14 karat yellow gold as the result. So what you’re wearing is a 14 karat yellowgold necklace, it’s just not alloyed yet.
